Jimmy Durante Boulevard Paving Project
The Jimmy Durante Boulevard Pavement Rehabilitation Project begins on Monday, April 6th.
During construction the contractor, Hazard Construction Co., plans to keep at least one travel lane open in both directions at all times. However, motorists may experience intermittent delays during construction in April and May.
The project will replace all pavement between Via de la Valle and the San Dieguito River Bridge.
All told, 340,000 square feet of pavement is scheduled for repair. That amounts to six football fields and represents nearly 8% of the pavement infrastructure that Del Mar maintains.
A revised striping plan is designed to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety. In particular, planned striping with green paint is designed to make drivers and bicyclists more aware of each other as they share the road.
