Date: Mar 24 , 2026

Smartphones have become one of the most powerful tools in our daily lives - yet many of us are only using a small fraction of their potential. Like other technologies, they may both assist and present risks. Solana Beach Community Connections continues its partnership with Senior Tech Connect sponsoring further instruction about using smart phones and other technologies at no cost to participants.

The next set of classes will be held on Thursday, April 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the classroom at La Colonia Community Center Classroom. The Center is located at 715 Valley Avenue in Solana Beach, CA 92075.

The workshop will cover four themes in cybersecurity, addressing one topic each week: advanced scam awareness, privacy, traveling with confidence, and using QR codes safely. Because enrollment is limited, participants are expected to attend at least three of the four workshops.

Dylan Willis from Senior Tech Connect will be the instructor. Mr. Willis is a San Diego Market President at Senior Tech Connect. He is a Marine Corps Veteran wit a background in cybersecurity and network administration. Senior Tech Connect is an organization committed to teaching mature adults to safely use technology's tools to better connect with their loved ones, communities, and our world.

Senior Tech Connect classes offered through Solana Beach Community Connections have been enthusiastically reviewed by participants. Bobbi stated that "the instructor Dylan Willis is very knowledgeable about smart phones, and excellent teacher and very patient with questions." Sarah, also a participant, said that "his explanations were easy to follow and enhanced my confidence in using my iPhone."

Space is limited and registration is required. Participants must register in advance for the four workshops and attend at least three of them. Registration is limited to 25 participants per course. To register, fill out this Google Form, or call or text the SBCC phone number at 858-284-6619.
