Solana Beach Community Connections' May Writers Workshop

Everyone has a story worth telling. Join Solana Beach Community Connections' (SBCC's) Writing Workshop and learn how to tell your story with confidence, clarity, and impact. 

SBCC's workshop is a series of four, two-hour sessions in a safe environment that encourages written expression. The Workshop meets Thursdays, May 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Participants will gather in the Main Hall of La Colonia Park Community Center, located at 715 Valley Avenue, Solana Beach CA 92075. The Workshop is part of SBCC's mission to support community engagement for mature adults in Solana Beach.

Back by popular demand, this is the sixth presentation of the writing workshop created by Eberly Barnes for SBCC. Enthusiastic participants had this to say about the workshop: "This classes have a wonderful format to develop our writing with unique exercises to cultivate creativity and written expression." Another person characterized it as "a safe, nurturing environment to find and hone your voice as a writer."

Eberly Barnes, who has inspired memoir-writers in five previous SBCC workshops, will be the guide and instructor. She recently retired after 12 years leading a writing program for undergraduates at UC San Diego. In addition to her academic life as a writer and teacher, Dr. Barnes has worked as a speechwriter, freelance editor, and writer. She has published memoir stories and writes a blog.

Class size is limited to the first 15 registrants and signups are on a first-come, first-served basis. Other will be placed on a waiting list. Participants are expected to attend at least three of the four sessions. In each interactive session, you'll receive suggestions for topics, share your written reflections, and discuss with classmates and the instructor in a relaxed, social environment.
