Voting
Date: Oct 13 , 2026
Time: 6:00 pm

Every election gives voters the opportunity to make important decisions about the future of our state. This year California voters will have some important decisions to make when voting on several statewide ballot propositions.

Join the League of Women Voters North County San Diego as they present their unbiased opinion on the November California ballot propositions. Their talk will take place on Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 PM at La Colonia Community Center. It is located in La Colonia Park at 715 Valley Avenue, Solana Beach 92075.

Pros and Cons is a nonpartisan presentation that explains the 14 state propositions on the November’s ballot using various sources from the California Secretary of State. It provides concise background information, describes what each measure will do if passed, and outlines its fiscal effects. The supporters and opponents of each proposition will be identified along with the main arguments and financial support for and against it.

The presenters are Mandy Butler and Rosette Garcia. Mandy is a member of the Voter Engagement Committee for the California League of Women Voters and co-chair of the Pros and Cons Committee for the League of Women Voters North County San Diego. She is a retired Professor of Biology at UCSD and former Biotech Scientist. Rosette Garcia is a longtime community volunteer, activist, and philanthropist with deep roots in civic engagement and public service. She currently serves on the board of ACLU-San Diego/Imperial County; San Diego Women’s Foundation (past president); San Diego Independent Redistricting Commission (Co-Vice Chair) and a past board member of the League of Women Voters North County San Diego (past president) and Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest.
