Día de los Muertos Celebration 2026
Come join the City of Solana Beach and the La Colonia Community Foundation in celebrating Día de los Muertos while honoring the ancestral legacy of La Colonia de Eden Gardens. Solana Beach's annual Día de los Muertos – “Day of the Dead” - will be held on Sunday, October 18th from 10 AM to 5 PM at La Colonia Park, 715 Valley Avenue.
Each year, the event features a unique them, and this year, we pay tribute to the 40th Anniversary of the City of Solana Beach. Photos from throughout the city's history will be the featured display at DDLM 2026. Additionally, there will be a celebratory cake cutting and a limited-edition mug giveaway.
This free, family-friendly community event offers exciting cultural entertainment, including MiraCosta Ballet Folklórico Club, a Classic Car Show by Viejitos Car Club, and musical performances by Los Gringos Muertos Band, Ilusión Norteña, JoJo Productions, and Mariachi Del Mar. There will also be free kids' activities (piñata, scavenger hunt, & crafts), a Catrin/Catrina costume contest, a dog costume contest, and a face mask contest.
The highlight of the event will be more than 40 altars honoring the memories of family and friends who have passed away. Danza Azteca San Luis Rey will begin blessing the altars at 10:00 AM.
Delicious and authentic Mexican American food and beverages will be available for purchase. Vendors will be selling unique gifts and handmade goods. Parking will be limited. We encourage carpooling, biking, walking, or taking public transportation. Please bring your own picnic chairs and blankets.
