Construction to Begin on Lomas Santa Fe East Corridor Improvements Project

As you may recall, the City received $7 million in funding from Congressman Mike Levin to improve the corridor of Lomas Santa Fe from the Freeway, east to Highland Drive. This long awaited project will be starting this Fall, after Labor Day, with some staging of machines, supplies and some pruning of vegetation in preparation for construction to start in October. 

The Lomas Santa Fe Corridor is the City’s primary east–west arterial and provides access to schools, parks, the library, transit, and commercial areas. The Lomas Santa Fe Corridor East Improvement Project (Santa Helena to Highland Drive) will construct new sidewalks, a multi-use trail, bicycle lanes, landscaped medians, pedestrian enhancements, and road paving and drainage improvements. 
 
The Project is budgeted at $7.4 million and is funded through a $7.0 million Community Project Funding / Congressionally Directed Spending (CPFCDSL-5445(008)) grant, secured by Representative Mike Levin, and through the City’s Transportation Impact Fee and Measure S funds.

City staff will be providing an update on the project at the City Council meeting at City Hall on September 9th. This will be the first of on-going public meetings and communication for this important and exciting project.
