New Beach Toy Borrow Box Arrives at Fletcher Cove

Date: Jan 22 , 2026

Fletcher Cove got a little more fun today with the unveiling of the new Beach Toy Borrow Box. City leaders, community members, and Girl Scout Troop 2200 gathered for a ribbon cutting to celebrate this creative sustainability project, which was built by the Girl Scouts themselves. The Beach Toy Borrow Box invites beachgoers to borrow, play, and return toys instead of purchasing single-use plastic items, helping keep our shoreline clean and clutter-free. It’s a small box with a big impact, powered by youth leadership, community spirit, and a shared love for our coast. Residents are encouraged to snap photos while using the new Beach Toy Borrow Box and tag the City of Solana Beach on social media to share the fun and help spread the word.

A special thank you to Girl Scout Troop 2200 and troop leader Katie Mahzari for creating the box and generously donating the toys inside. Thank you as well to the 5th and 6th grade students of Solana Santa Fe Elementary School and Parks for supporting this project.
